Planner tips for beginners, you should know this!

Have you never used a planner before and don’t know how to get started? Have you already started using a planner but don’t feel good while doing it? If the statements are true, you are in the right place!

Choose a planner

The name of the first aspect can be a bit misleading because the point is not to choose “a” planner, but “the” planner.

What is the difference?

In the first case, you choose a type that works for many, is simple, and does not contain too many creative elements (maybe you like the minimalist line, so if you don’t need more, choose this).

In the second case, you choose something you like, outside and inside. After examining its contents (very important!) you see that it also contains extra elements that can build your personality and can be useful during planning.

What do I mean?

You can set goals for the day, week, or month in advance that motivate you. At the end of the day or week, you can collect why you were grateful during that period. If it is important to you, you can collect what you did for your health this week.

There can be many aspects like this, look for a planner whose parts suit your personality.
It is also important to think about whether you prefer to fill the planner digitally or physically. The latter worked better for me.

Pick a day to write your plans

In this case, you have to pay attention to 2 things. Do you use a weekly or daily planner or both?

Regarding weekly planning, I recommend you sit down on Sunday afternoon (preferably before dinner) and think about your week. Go slowly through all the days and all the topics that appear in the planner. If necessary, spend more hours on it, but try to complete the planner in as much detail as possible.

For daily planning, I recommend the evening of the previous day. After bathing and washing, I usually turn on the light, sit at the table or in bed, and plan the next day. This is less time than if you plan for 1 week. So it’s okay if you do it when you’re done with everything else in the evening.

However, it is essential not to leave it for the next day! Why?

If you don’t write down and plan your next day, tasks and tasks will occupy your thoughts all evening and maybe all night. You will worry that you forgot something. If you write it in the morning, everything will be thrown at you immediately. Instead, you can go through your tasks step by step.

Just start

If you feel like you’ve found the best planner for you, but you don’t want to deal with all the details yet, that’s fine

Plan and use what is most important to you!

I also first wrote what tasks I wanted to complete that day, and then the following week I started writing down 3 things I was grateful for.

Don’t try to start everything at once if you’re a beginner, because you can get lost and quickly lose your motivation.

Just start and progress gradually!
